A Tamaqua woman allegedly showed up drunk to a recent Trunk or Treat night.
According to a SkookNews.com report, Rush Township police say Melissa Schartel showed up to the community’s Trunk or Treat Night last week.
Trunk-or-treat is the trendy event that’s slowly replacing trick-or-treat nights across the country. Instead of kids going door-to-door for candy, kids come to a central location.
That’s where people show up with their vehicle trunks decorated, handing out candy.
Authorities suspected Schartel was drunk. When they identified her, they realized she was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Court records on Schartel show that she’s due in court again on Nov. 7 to plead on charges dating back to 2016. She’s facing charges of DUI and endangering the welfare of children.
