Pine Grove and Blue Mountain each earned victories in Schuylkill League Division 1 play on Thursday.
The Cardinals gave North Schuylkill a rude awakening into Schuylkill League play with a decisive 7-0 victory.
Conversely, Blue Mountain just squeaked by Jim Thorpe, 1-0, but stayed perfect in league play.
In the other Division 1 matchup Thursday, Tamaqua took down Lehighton, 3-1.
Among the small schools in Division 2, Schuylkill Haven topped Minersville, 3-1.
Nativity edged Tri-Valley, 3-2 and Lourdes sneaked by Williams Valley, 6-5.

The next matchday is Monday, September 9. That’s when Jim Thorpe travels to Lehighton, Pine Grove comes up to Pottsville and North Schuylkill heads to Tamaqua. In Division 2, Lourdes takes on Tri-Valley, Minersville heads out to Weatherly, and Haven comes up for a match with Nativity.
