North Schuylkill Still at #2 in WNEP Super 16 Football Countdown Rankings

wnep super 16

After thrashing Shamokin in its home opener last week, North Schuylkill did all it could to hold on to the #2 position in the latest WNEP Super 16 Football Countdown Rankings.

The Spartans took care of the Indians, 56-6, in front of a home crowd last Friday. And because Southern Columbia took care of Mount Carmel, North Schuylkill holds on to #2 in the rankings.

It may take a minor miracle for North Schuylkill to hit the top spot in WNEP’s rankings this season.

This week, North Schuylkill travels to Wyomissing for a Saturday afternoon contest.

Three other Schuylkill League teams stayed in the WNEP rankings. Tamaqua improved one spot after another convincing win last week, 50-0 over Mahanoy Area.

For that, and because Mount Carmel dropped 4 spots, the Blue Raiders move from #9 to #8. Maybe they’ll climb a little higher if they take care of Schuylkill Haven on Friday evening.

Jim Thorpe took care of Marian Catholic last week, 42-0, and stayed at #11 in WNEP’s poll. The Olympians take on Panther Valley in Lansford this week.

And Pottsville, despite losing a double-overtime game against Wyomissing, managed to stay in the WNEP rankings, holding on at #16, down from #13 last week. The Crimson Tide take on Muhlenberg this Friday.
