District 11 softball schedulers got weather wise. Or they just got sick of it running their lives.
Rather than mark the remaining District 11 softball championship games for Thursday — when it’s expected to rain and storm for a third straight day — they moved 3 games set for Orwigsburg to Friday.
We’ve been assured it won’t rain Friday, so there’s no reason they can’t get them in then.
But Blue Mountain is going to try and get its game in on Thursday. The Eagles face Northwestern Lehigh in the Class 4A softball championship Thursday at 3 p.m. The game is being played at Parkland HS in Orefield, Pa.
Each team last played 6-7 days ago. To reach the finals, Blue Mountain topped Bethlehem Catholic, 4-3, way back on May 24.
Northwestern Lehigh’s last game was actually the day prior. That’s when they topped Tamaqua to reach the Class 4A finals.
In the other three District 11 softball championship games involving local teams, they’re all scheduled to be played at Blue Mountain High School. And even if it doesn’t rain that much on Thursday, probably better to let the field dry a bit.
Either way, the classes 1A, 2A, and 3A championships are all set for Friday now.
Here’s a look at the schedule for Friday’s games at Blue Mountain HS in Orwigsburg:
- Class 1A: #1 Williams Valley vs. #2 Nativity BVM, 4:30 p.m.
- Class 2A: #1 Schuylkill Haven vs. #3 Northern Lehigh, 11 a.m. (completion)
- Class 3A: #1 Pine Grove vs. #6 Salisbury, 7 p.m.
