All-Area Final Four Set in Class 2A
The District 11 Class 2A baseball playoffs guarantee us an all-area district championship game at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown. The six teams in the tournament all hail from the coal region.
The finals are set for May 29 at 4:30 at the home of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. But before we get there, we need to find out who’s playing.
On Wednesday, we got a step closer.
Panther Valley and Williams Valley each won their quarterfinal showdowns.
The Panthers took care of Minersville, 4-0, on Wednesday. They’ll move on to the semifinal round and a date with top-seeded Schuylkill Haven. That game’s scheduled for May 26 at 4 p.m. in Pottsville.
In the other quarterfinal game in 2A, Williams Valley dispatched Shenandoah Valley from the tournament, 11-1. The Vikings now face Marian Catholic on May 26 at 1 p.m. in Pottsville.
Jim Thorpe Ousted by NW Lehigh
The Olympians’ bats weren’t enough for the Northwestern Lehigh attack on Wednesday, falling 12-5 in the District 11 Class 4A quarterfinals.
In the 4A bracket, top seed North Schuylkill found out who it will meet in the semifinals. On Saturday at noon in Pine Grove, the Spartans take on Saucon Valley, which won 4-3 over Allentown Central Catholic on Wednesday.
