There was a heavy police presence Tuesday in Saint Clair following a reported stabbing.

Coal Region Canary confirms reports of a stabbing in the borough just outside Pottsville earlier Tuesday (April 9).

An unconfirmed report suggests a bleeding man walked into the Buckhorn Cafe at 61 S. Front St. in St. Clair on Tuesday during the day. He then left the bar.

St. Clair Police are currently looking for a 34-year-old man named John “Bucky” Berger, of Pottsville. The victim’s ID was not released.

St Clair Stabbing

A Pennsylvania State Police forensics team is on the scene. They’re assisted by more state police and multiple local police departments.

Skook News reported earlier today that police had Lawton Street, near Saint Clair Elementary School blocked off.

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, Saint Clair Area sent out a robo-call to parents with children in the district. They advised that any walker students would need to be picked up at the school at 3 p.m. due to the heavy police activity.

Here’s what the message said:

This afternoon’s School Messenger phone call is as follows…We are aware of the police involvement with a situation 2 blocks from our school. I am calling to request parents/guardians pick up their children at 3 PM who walk home within the Borough of Saint Clair. Please call the office with any questions. 570-429-2716.

The continued police presence in the borough is affecting other businesses this evening, too. The Dalinda Dance Studio cancelled classes this evening. It informed its following on Facebook, saying, “Lessons cancelled this evening to ensure the safety of our students.”

Canary updates as they warrant.
