WNEP meteorologist Joe Snedeker has a new podcast.
And for his first guest, he picked someone he’s known for the last 16 years or more. That’s Tom Twardzik, the man now in charge of Mrs. T’s Pierogies in Shenandoah.
They kicked off the first upload of the Mr. Curiosity podcast with a discussion about the spelling of the product the Twardzik family is helping turn into a national staple food.
Snedeker asks, “How do you spell this and how did you determine how to spell this?”
Twardzik says his dad attempted to American-ize the spelling of pierogies when he started the company.
“That’s why ours is P-I-E-R-O-G-I-E-S,” Twardzik says.
The man behind Mrs. T’s says customers through the years have offered alternative spellings for pierogies. Some even tried to charge the company for their spelling.
“My dad thought it would be easier to pronounce. I don’t think we really accomplished that,” Twardik adds.
