South Schuylkill Garden Club to Host Popular Plant Sale in New Location

Plant sale is being held on May 18 at Bubeck Park in Schuylkill Haven.

The South Schuylkill Garden Club is gearing up for its highly anticipated Annual Plant Sale, which will take place on Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

This year, the event will be held at a new location, Bubeck Park/Stoyer’s Dam on Washington St. in Schuylkill Haven.

This event is a favorite among local garden enthusiasts looking to add quality and variety to their gardens.

Attendees can expect a wide array of plants tailored for different garden needs, from decorative perennials to practical vegetable plants. The selection includes favorites like premium daylilies, hostas, and peonies, alongside a variety of shrubs and small trees.

For those interested in edibles, there will be vegetable plants ready to transfer from garden to table. The sale will also offer a diverse range of houseplants and herbs, all at prices starting as low as $3.

The plant sale is particularly noted for its extensive offering of native plants, which are especially suited to the local climate and soil conditions. Native plants are a smart choice for gardeners as they generally require less water, fewer pesticides, and no fertilizers. They also help in preventing erosion and promoting biodiversity by providing essential nectar, pollen, and seeds to local wildlife.

This year’s selection includes native plants like cranesbill, ginger, monarda, and more, which can enhance local ecosystems and bring a natural aesthetic to any garden. It’s important for buyers to know that these plants might take a year or so to fully adapt to their new environment.

In addition to the wide plant selection, expert gardeners from the South Schuylkill Garden Club and Penn State Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer any gardening questions. This is a great chance for attendees to get professional advice on selecting the right plants for their garden conditions and care tips.

The Annual Plant Sale will take place rain or shine. For more information, call or text Nancy at 570-753-9787.
