National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Schuylkill County.
The Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 8 p.m.
Other counties included in the Watch area include: Adams, Bedford, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder, Somerset, and York.
Forecasters say these storms could potentially contain severe wind gusts and hail. The storms will bring in a cooling period for the area following this week’s heat ripple, which saw the early part of the week soar into the 90s for highs and uncomfortably warm air at night.
A soaking rain of more than an inch is expected Friday and Saturday in the area, NWS says.
