A Schuylkill County man died Wednesday afternoon after losing control of his motorcycle in Blythe Township, according to State Police.
James Lake, 53, of Barnesville, was driving a 2023 Triumph Tiger motorcycle north on Mountain Rd. in Blythe Township shortly before 4:30 p.m., police said. As the roadway approached the intersection with Tumbling Run Rd. and curved to the left, Lake lost control of the vehicle, according to State Police.
The motorcycle overturned onto its left side and traveled across the road before coming to a final rest along the right shoulder, police say.
Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS transported Lake to Lehigh Valley Medical Center East in Pottsville. Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but Lake was pronounced deceased at the hospital, police say.
State Police say Lake was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash and that no other vehicles were involved.
