About half of Schuylkill County is under an Enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms on Monday.
National Weather Service says it only uses the Enhanced risk label about 5-6 days a year but on Monday, parts of central, southern, and western Schuylkill County could see numerous severe thunderstorms throughout the day and into the early evening hours.
In addition to numerous, longer storms possible on Monday, a few could be “intense”, forecasters say.
The rest of Schuylkill County is at a Slight risk of severe thunderstorms during this time.

National Weather Service has a five-tier scale to label the risk of severe weather potential, from Marginal to High. The most rare are Moderate (issued once every 4-5 years) and High (which rarely happens).
Strong gusty winds are also expected to the return to the area later today followed by a brief warm-up before temperatures drop sharply into next week.

After a mostly cloudy day on Sunday with wind gusts up to 30 mph, rain enters the chat tonight, mostly after midnight, with a low of about 42 degrees. Wind gusts will pick up to about 40 mph.
Showers persist through Monday morning as it warms up to about 64 degrees. Storms are most likely in the afternoon. Some of those storms will be severe. Gusts of up to 35 mph are likely. More showers are possible on Monday night, when temps drop to below 40 degrees across Schuylkill County.
There may even be some snow showers possible through the early morning on Tuesday. Rainfall of more than an inch is possible on Monday.
It will stay cold on Tuesday, with temps struggling to stay above freezing. The overnight low Tuesday into Wednesday is just 19 degrees.
Wednesday is another cold day in the area but temperatures will climb back closer to 50 degrees later in the week, according to NWS.
