The Schuylkill County woman accused of shooting her husband in the arm and then later throwing a cup of urine on prison staff is facing two more felony charges related to the armed standoff following the alleged shooting.

In one set of charges, State Police say Alycia Yost, 36, of Barnesville, is accused of shooting a police drone out of mid-air during that standoff. In another, she’s accused of punching a hospital nurse in the face after the standoff.

On Wednesday morning, shortly after 4 a.m., police say they responded to a 9-1-1 call from a home on Codorus Rd. in Ryan Township after a dispatcher heard a man say, “She shot me in the arm and she won’t give me the gun back.” As they arrived on the scene shortly before 4:30 a.m., Troopers say a man came running from the home saying he’d been shot by his wife. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Yost, however, remained holed up inside the home and refused to surrender or comply with police demands she come out of the home. The standoff lasted for more than five hours, police say. During the saga, police say they utilized drones to keep an eye on the location and saw Yost had barricaded herself inside the home.

At 9:40 a.m., police say a DJI drone was sent into the home and its camera was able to locate Yost seated on a staircase in the living room. Two gunshots were heard and police quickly realized that Yost had shot the drone out of the air. Fifteen minutes later, Yost was taken into custody.

During a search of the home, police say they recovered their drone from the base of the staircase. It showed signs of being hit by gunfire. Police also recovered a loaded SCCY CPX1-9mm, which they believe Yost used to take down the drone. A piece of the drone’s wing was also recovered along with two spent casings.

For that, Yost is being charged with a felony count of discharging a firearm inside a residence and misdemeanor counts of obstruction, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief.

After being taken into custody following the standoff, Yost was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Coaldale for evaluation and treatment of injuries she sustained during the incident.

While at the hospital, police say Yost punched a nurse in the left cheek, causing the victim’s glasses to fall off her face and redness at the point of contact.

For that, Yost has been charged with a felony count of aggravated assault against a designated individual, a misdemeanor count of simple assault, and a summary count of harassment.

Related to allegedly shooting her husband in the arm on Wednesday morning, Yost has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault with extreme indifference, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment. She’s been arraigned and is being held on $250,000 bail.

During her intake at Schuylkill County Prison, Yost was required to provide a urine sample. Police in Pottsville say that Yost refused to set down the cup into which she peed and instead threw it on three members of prison staff, hitting one of them in the face with it.
