National Weather Service has issued a COLD WEATHER ADVISORY and a WIND ADVISORY for Schuylkill County this weekend.
The Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday. The Wind Advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. Saturday until 10 p.m. Sunday.
National Weather Service says very cold wind chills will make things feel frigid during this time. Expected Wind Chill values could drop as low as -20.
Steady winds out of the northwest between 15-25 mph are expected with gusts up to 55 mph possible, NWS says.
A slight chance of snow showers exists ahead of the rush of frigid air overnight tonight.
With Wind Chill values as low as expected, exposure of just 30 minutes could cause frostbit.
Due to the strong winds, downed limbs could cause power outages and unsecured objects could blow away, forecasters say.
On Saturday, a high temperature of just 11 degrees is forecast for Pottsville. Saturday night’s expected low is 2 degrees.
It won’t be much warmer on Sunday, either. NWS says to expect a high of 18 degrees and a low of 4 degrees.
After a relatively mild day on Monday, with a high of 26 degrees, two days ABOVE freezing are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.
However, there is a chance of rain and snow showers on Wednesday. Some of that rain could be of the freezing variety.
