At some point on Wednesday, it’ll feel like Spring. When it does, try to capture that moment and hang on to it because it’ll be just a memory by tonight.
National Weather Service is forecasting a sharp drop in temperature tonight and lasting through early next week in Schuylkill County.
After hitting a balmy 61 degrees for a high temp on Wednesday, tonight’s overnight low into Thanksgiving Day is expected to hover right around freezing.
And it’ll only reach slightly above freezing on your holiday and into the mid-20s at night.
That pattern is expected to continue through early next week, with only a slight thaw on Sunday in the area. Otherwise, temps will be in the mid- to upper-30s for highs through next Tuesday with lows in the 20s.
Strong Winds on Thanksgiving
With the cold air comes some pretty strong winds, too.
National Weather Service hasn’t issued any wind advisories just yet for Schuylkill County but forecasters are expecting strong wind gusts up to 45 mph starting Wednesday night through Friday.
Sustained winds each day will be about 15 mph.
Unsecured objects could blow around with the strongest gusts and there’s always a possibility of power outages and downed trees with such weather. With many people taking to the roads to visit friends and family over the holiday weekend, be sure to take extra care behind the wheel.
Mostly Dry
Despite the cold weather moving into the area, there’s very little precipitation in the 7-day forecast. A slight chance of showers exists Sunday through Tuesday. With temps around the freezing mark on Monday night, there’s a slight chance of freezing rain.
