A Schuylkill County man has been charged with promoting prostitution after he allegedly offered to pay several men for sexual favors.
Police in Pottsville say they were dispatched to a downtown business on Oct. 22 to speak to an employee who said a man just offered to pay him to allow him to perform a sexual favor on him.
The suspect had left the scene but police say they were able to catch up to the him in a nearby parking. He was identified as 33-year-old Donald Kopp, of Pottsville.
Kopp, police say, appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and admitted to drinking alcohol.
As police were speaking with Kopp regarding the allegations against him, the employee of the downtown business walked to the scene. He said Kopp offered him $100 to allow him to perform oral sex on him.
Kopp was taken into custody and held at City Hall due to his level of intoxication, police say.
Further investigation revealed that another employee of the same business also said that Kopp made a similar proposition to him. That employee did not want to be named as a victim but did want Kopp to be banned from the store.
Police say that a search of Kopp’s person revealed that he had cocaine on him when he was taken into custody.
A warrant has been issued for Kopp’s arrest. He’s being charged with two counts of promoting prostitution, a third-degree felony, a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, and a summary offense for public drunkenness.
