A man from Maine died Sunday in Schuylkill County when his pickup truck crashed on Interstate 81, went airborne, and landed on Route 25.
State Police-Frackville reports the crash occurred near Mile Marker 111.7 on I-81 North in Frailey Township at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. A pickup truck driven by Scott McAlpine, 61, of Jay, Maine, left the roadway on the left shoulder, traveled through the grass median and hit a grass and rock embankment.
McAlpine’s vehicle became airborne and landed at the underpass of the twin bridges on Route 25 beneath the interstate.
McAlpine was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
