A Schuylkill County woman was arrested Tuesday night after police say she threatened family members with a knife after they broke up an argument between her and her boyfriend, whom she was preventing from leaving her home.
According to court documents, State Police were dispatched to a home in the 700 block of Brock St. in Ashland shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30.
A person who had phoned 9-1-1 said that his sister, 19-year-old Esmarlyn Santos-Ramos was arguing with her boyfriend and now had a knife.
Santos-Ramos’ brother told police that Esmarlyn left the residence with multiple knives. He said that his sister had been arguing with her boyfriend, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt, and not allowing him to leave their home.
When Santos-Ramos’ two brothers and her father stepped in to break up the argument and allow her boyfriend to flee, she allegedly threatened all three with a kitchen knife.
Santos-Ramos then left the house with multiple knives after demanding that her family members grab her boyfriend’s bag of clothing.
Police say they found Santos-Ramos walking south on S. 2nd St. toward Troopers. After being given verbal commands to stop, Santos-Ramos allegedly lifted her shirt and got out four large kitchen knives from her waistband and threw them on the ground.
Santos-Ramos was then taken into custody. Police say that while she was in custody, Santos-Ramos continually said, “I want to fight.”
Santos-Ramos was arraigned Tuesday night before Magisterial District Judge AJ Serina and charged with three counts of making terroristic threats, three counts of simple assault, and a single count of possessing a weapon, all misdemeanors. She’s also been charged with a summary count of harassment.
Serina set bail at $50,000 cash and Santos-Ramos was sent to Schuylkill County Prison.
