Borough Maintenance Worker, Borough of New Philadelphia, PA
The Borough of New Philadelphia is hiring a dependable and hardworking individual to join our Maintenance Team. This position is essential to maintaining the borough’s infrastructure, parks, and public spaces. If you’re skilled with equipment, enjoy hands-on work, and want to serve your community in all seasons, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
• Snow plowing and salting roads during winter weather
• Mowing, weed trimming, ash collection
• Painting curbs and maintaining traffic markings
• Operating backhoes, loaders, plow trucks, and other equipment
• Road patching, catch basin clearing, and barrier repairs
• Installing and maintaining traffic signs and safety barriers
• Cement mixing, blacktop raking, and masonry support
• Keeping public areas clean and safe
• Conducting equipment checks and reporting issues
• Responding to emergencies, including hazardous road conditions
• Preparation for key holiday events (Halloween Parade, Memorial Day, Tree Lighting, etc.) Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year of experience with hand and power tools
• Valid Class C driver’s license
• Experience snow/ice removal
• Knowledge of safety procedures and maintenance equipment
• Ability to follow instructions and learn borough protocols
• On call availability for emergencies
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift for extended periods
• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.; occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Operate machinery and perform manual labor in all weather.
• Work safely around loud equipment and moving machinery
