Jeremy Goodling, a well-known Christian musician from central Pennsylvania, will perform in Tamaqua on Aug. 3. Goodling is scheduled to appear at this year’s Summer Celebration, set for 6 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., Tamaqua.
Summer Celebration is an annual event hosted by the Tamaqua Ministerial Association and the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network. Some may consider it a form of evangelism, while others see it as an opportunity for Christians of different backgrounds to come together and share their common faith.
In past years, Summer Celebration has featured performances by the Praise Band from Blue Mountain Community Church in Palmerton and, last year, Sing for America from Bethlehem, which performed Godspell. The first Summer Celebration was held in August 2013 at the Tamaqua Train Station and featured all local musicians and speakers.
Goodling has been traveling and singing at churches and events across Pennsylvania for more than 34 years, sharing the Good News through a ministry of music. He performs a variety of Christian music styles, including Southern gospel, light contemporary, hymns, and praise and worship. His songs offer hope and encouragement, and he often shares how they connect to his own life and walk with the Lord.
Many over the years have commented on Goodling’s wide vocal range and his ability to sing both lead and low-range songs. When a piano is available, he enjoys playing his own accompaniment and, on occasion, plays drums when his daughters sing at their home church and select concerts.
Goodling lives in McAlisterville with his wife, Tabitha, and their four daughters. They enjoy a scenic mountainside view in Juniata County and are active members of Niemonds Independent Church in Richfield. More information about Goodling’s ministry is available at www.jeremygoodling.com.
A time of food and fellowship will follow Goodling’s performance. Tamaqua-area congregations have been invited to donate food and beverage items for the gathering.
TAFFN is an informal organization of lay leaders from Tamaqua-area congregations. The Tamaqua Ministerial Association meets monthly and invites all area clergy to share fellowship, information, and support.
