Schuylkill County Woman Reportedly Tells Police She’s Not Leaving Unless It’s in Cuffs and They Oblige

A Minersville woman was sent to Schuylkill County Prison following a domestic disturbance over the weekend.

According to court documents, police in Minersville were called to a residence on Sunbury St. shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Friday. There, police say they spoke with the victim of this alleged incident who said the suspect – identified as Emma Whelinski, 41 – struck him in the face.

Police say they noticed the victim had a red and swollen left eye as a result of the incident.

Whelinski was told multiple times by police that she needed to leave the premises, they say. However, she didn’t budge and instead reportedly told police, “This is my home and I will not be leaving unless it’s in handcuffs.”

Police then attempted to put Whelinski in said handcuffs but she allegedly pushed, kicked, and pulled herself away from two Minersville Police officers for several minutes until she was finally taken into custody.

Whelinski was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge AJ Serina and charged with simple assault, defiant trespass, and resisting arrest, all second-degree misdemeanors, as well as a summary offense for harassment.

Serina set bail at $2,000 cash, which has not been posted, according to court records, and Whelinsky remains in Schuylkill County Prison.
