Schuylkill County Man Jailed on Breaking-and-Entering Charges

De Leon-Gutierrez being held on $25K bail

A Schuylkill County man was jailed earlier this week on breaking-and-entering charges.

At a little before 3 a.m. on Sunday, police in Shenandoah say they were called to a home in the 300 block of W. Lloyd St. for a reported breaking-and-entering incident. At the scene, police say they found Christian De Leon-Gutierrez standing on the front porch of a home. De Leon-Gutierrez was clearly intoxicated and standing next to a broken window with glass scattered about the ground near him.

De Leon-Gutierrez, police say, spoke very broken English but said he lived at that address. However, police say they spoke with the homeowners at the scene who told a different story. They said they had no idea who De Leon-Gutierrez was and that he’d just tried to force his way into their home via the front door before he smashed the window.

Police say they took De Leon-Gutierrez to the State Police-Frackville barracks for a live scan identification. He was then taken before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and arraigned on a felony count of criminal trespass and summary charges of disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and criminal mischief.

Bayer set bail at $25,000 and remanded him to Schuylkill County Prison. A preliminary hearing before Judge Anthony Kilker is scheduled for June 18.
