Isabelle Anne Martin, 85 – Member of Coaldale First Congregational Church

Isabelle Anne Martin, 85, of Tamaqua, died on Sunday, December 29, 2019 in Lehighton.

She was the wife of the late John E. Martin, Sr. to whom she was married 66 years at the time of his death on June 27, 2019.

Born in Morgantown, West Virginia on January 20, 1934, Isabelle was a daughter of the late Gertrude Evaline (nee Pugh) and Brooks Few Lanham, Sr.

A 1951 graduate of Morgantown High School, she worked at the True Value Hardware Store in Schnecksville, PA; Jamesway, Tamaqua; and in the garment industry.

Isabelle was a member of First Congregational Church, Coaldale where she was a past president of the Women’s Class and a deaconess. She was a member of the Schuylkill Gideons East for whom she served as a president and a chaplain of the auxiliary.

Isabelle is survived by sons, Jeffrey E. Martin and his wife, Melissa of Tuscarora, and John E. Martin, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Virginia Beach, VA; 11 grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by daughters, Joyann Martin in 1985 and JoAnn Hafer in 2005 as well as her siblings, Brooks Lanham, Jr., Donald Wayne Lanham, and Kathryn Brown.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 2 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack officiating.

Call 8-10 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 3.
