Woman Accused of Scaling Washing Machine to Steal $60 from Schuylkill County Laundromat

DelVillaggio’s piercing and tattoos lead police to her

Police have accused a Carbon County woman of scaling a washing machine in order to steal $60 from a Schuylkill County laundromat’s office.

State Police say they were called to the Lake View Laundromat on Fairview Street in Rush Township on March 6 for a reported theft. The business owner told police an employee had alerted him to a potential theft, leading him to discover $60 missing from an office desk drawer.

The owner provided police with surveillance footage, which police say showed a woman – later identified as Morgan DelVillaggio, 28, of Summit Hill, entering the business and then climbing over a washing machine, entering the office through a cutout in the wall, and remaining inside for several minutes. Police say DelVillaggio then exited over the washing machine and fled the premises at 4:30 p.m. in a black sedan.

Police received a tip from a local law enforcement agency on March 13 identifying the woman as DelVillaggio.

During a follow-up investigation on March 16, police compared the surveillance footage to DelVillaggio’s driver’s license and prior booking photos. Police say the woman in the video had distinctive tattoos near her right eye and on her left hand, as well as a facial piercing below her left nostril, which matched DelVillaggio.

DelVillaggio owns a black 2013 Hyundai Elantra, which matched the suspected vehicle seen at the laundromat.

Police have charged DelVillaggio with misdemeanor counts of theft and receiving stolen property. She’ll have to answer to those charges at a preliminary hearing on May 5 in front of Magisterial District Court Judge Stephen Bayer in Tamaqua.
