National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Schuylkill County on Monday.
The Tornado Watch is in effect until 7 p.m. and includes the following counties in addition to Schuylkill: Adams, Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Mifflin, Monroe, Montgomery, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Perry, Philadelphia, Snyder, Union, and York.
National Weather Service issues a Tornado Watch when conditions make it possible for a tornado to occur. It does not mean a tornado is likely. A Tornado Warning is issued when a tornado has been spotted or is indicated by weather radar.
A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. for Schuylkill County, with gusts up to 50 mph expected and steady winds between 20-30 mph during that time.
According to a National Weather Service forecast briefing Monday morning, the tornadic activity is possible in Schuylkill County around 4 p.m. with an initial wave of severe storms today.
A second line of storms is possible several hours later ahead of a cold front that is expected to drop temperatures to more winter-like conditions. High temperatures in the 30s are expected over the next two days.
