Severe thunderstorms are likely today in Schuylkill County. Some of those storms could touch off a tornado, according to National Weather Service.
A Wind Advisory is in effect from noon until 11 p.m. today. Gusts of up to 50 mph are expected. There is currently an Enhanced risk of severe weather today in Schuylkill County.

The latest information from National Weather Service indicates the severe storms are moving in ahead of a cold front. Damaging winds are the biggest threat associated with these storms. However, more than an inch of rain is also possible across all of Schuylkill County, with two inches possible at the highest elevations. Minor flooding is possible but not likely.

NWS expects the storms to come in two rounds today. Tornadic activity, if it happens, would be linked with the first round of storms, which is likely to impact Schuylkill County after 4 p.m. Damaging straight-line winds are also possible.

A second line of storms ahead of a cold front is likely to impact the area a few hours after that first wave.
