Warrant Issued for Another Non-Compliant Megan’s Law Registrant in Schuylkill County

Police searching for fugitive Jeffrey Carney

Police are searching for a Schuylkill County man they say is out of compliance with the requirements of Megan’s Law.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jeffrey Carney, 53, with a last known address in Ashland.

Ashland Police Chief Ger Daley says in a criminal complaint that he received an investigation request from State Police regarding Carney on Tuesday.

At about 10 a.m., Daley said he visited Carney’s last known address in the 1800 block of Market St. in Ashland. There was no answer at the door.

Daley says he then made contact by phone with the tenant at that address who reportedly says Carney hasn’t live there in more than a year an could be in Virginia.

As per Megan’s Law, Carney is supposed to report any change of address within three days of moving. Police say Carney hasn’t reported any change in his status since March 5, 2025.

Carney has been required to report his whereabouts since Nov. 17, 2010. He was convicted in New York for having sexual contact with a 14-year-old minor.
