Charges Dismissed in Schuylkill County Burglary, Assault Cases

Defendants cleared in Mechanicsville burglary, Orwigsburg assault cases

Charges were recently dismissed in cases of a Mechanicsville burglary and an Orwigsburg domestic assault.

Restitution Paid in Mechanicsville Burglary

Charges were dismissed Tuesday in the case of a Mechanicsville burglary that reportedly occurred on Dec. 6 at an apartment building on Anderson St.

All five defendants who were accused of ransacking an apartment there appeared in District Court in Port Carbon on Tuesday.

The victim, the woman renting the apartment, did not appear for court, but the property owner did.

The Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office agreed to dismiss the charges against the following in exchange for them paying full restitution to the landlord, approximately $1,100, which they split:

  • Keith King, 21, of Pottsville
  • Ali Brown-Bailey, 23, of Aliquippa
  • Robert Quinn, 22, of Palo Alto
  • David Anderson, 20, of Edgewood, Maryland
  • Samuel Whitman-Frazier, 19, of Philadelphia

Police in Pottsville recently filed a new burglary charge against Brown-Bailey for an incident that allegedly occurred that same day on N. George St.

Brown-Bailey was arraigned on those charges on Tuesday and released on $15,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 30.

Charges Dismissed in Orwigsburg Domestic Assault Case

Last week, the prosecution dismissed charges in a domestic assault case from December.

The Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office says the victim in the case against Jason Nowicki-Santonastaso, 26, did not want to go forward with charges in the case.

Orwigsburg Police agreed to drop their charge of institutional vandalism for damage that allegedly occurred in the police station following his arrest last year.
