Four adults were uninjured as fire destroyed a home in Orwigsburg Saturday afternoon.
Orwigsburg Fire Chief Scott Rarick tells Coal Region Canary that American Red Cross is attending to the housing and other needs of the four adults that were living at 501 Lee St. in the borough.
Two dogs were also rescued from the home. However, several cats passed away in the home.

Fire broke out at about noon on Saturday. Rarick said a column of smoke was visible from the Friendship Hose Co. No. 1 station.
At the scene, firefighters battled that thick smoke and flames. Fire seems to have started at the rear of the home, but a State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the origin and cause of the blaze.
One firefighter was taken from the scene to a local hospital for evaluation but is OK and uninjured, Rarick says.

Firefighters from Orwigsburg were joined at the scene by those from Schuylkill Haven, Landingville, Deer Lake, New Ringgold, Pottsville, and Englewood.
Schuylkill EMS provided warm shelter in an ambulance at the scene for the four victims of Saturday’s fire.
Schuylkill County’s Incident Management Team was also at the scene, Rarick says.
