A Schuylkill County man was jailed over the weekend after police charged him with a domestic assault in which he allegedly broke a woman’s jaw and nose.
Police in Orwigsburg say they received a complaint on Thursday last week about an alleged assault that occurred back in September.
In the complaint, a woman says she and Scott Brennan, 55, of Schuylkill Haven, got into verbal argument that turned violent. During the argument, the woman told police she told Brennan to drive her home.
However, Brennan did not immediately drive her home, she says, and along the way, repeatedly assaulted her. Brennan allegedly slapped and punched the woman numerous times along back roads that lead in and out of Orwigsburg.
One of the alleged strikes against the woman caused her to lose consciousness, she reported to police.
The woman says she sought treatment for her injuries the next day at Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital in West Brunswick Township. She says she was diagnosed with a fractured jaw and nose and a concussion. Her nose required surgical repair, she says.
On Friday, police filed a felony charge of aggravated assault, a misdemeanor count of simple assault, and a summary count of harassment against Brennan. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley, who set bail at 10% of $25,000.
Court records show bail was posted on Monday and Brennan was released. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 17 before Senior Judge Casimir Kosciolek in Orwigsburg.
