A Schuylkill County woman allegedly assaulted a family member and later broke into the residence where it happened through a bathroom window to retrieve her phone.
Police in Butler Township say they were dispatched to a home on the 600 block of W. Pine St. shortly before 8 p.m. on Jan. 9 for a report of a domestic dispute involving reported injuries.
Police say they arrived to find Briana Yordy, 33, outside the residence near a garage. Yordy reportedly told them she had no injuries, though officers observed small scratches on the side of each hand and dirt on her knuckles. When questioned about the scratches, Yordy reportedly stated they were “probably from something inside the home.”
Inside the home, police say they interviewed a woman who had visible injuries to the left side of her face. EMS personnel evaluated the woman at the scene.
The woman told police that she and her husband had arrived home around 7 p.m. and engaged in a conversation with Yordy regarding a decision to reconcile. She reportedly said Yordy was against the decision and began verbally attacking the woman.
Yordy allegedly “went crazy” and began assaulting the alleged victim when she tried intervening on a phone call Yordy was having. The woman told police Yordy punched her in the face, head, and chest with closed fists and kicked her about the body.
The woman’s husband reportedly intervened, pulled Yordy off the woman, and the couple asked Yordy to leave.
Police say that after Yordy went outside and the door was locked, she realized she had forgotten her phone. Yordy then allegedly broke a window and re-entered the home through the bathroom window to retrieve her phone.
Yordy was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley and charged with simple assault and harassment. Reiley set bail at 10% of $10,000 and remanded Yordy to Schuylkill County Prison.
According to court records, bail has not been posted, as of Monday night. A preliminay hearing is scheduled before Judge Edward Tarantelli.
