Pantless, Drunk Schuylkill County Woman Jailed After Allegedly Biting Man

Sifuentes posted bail Monday

A Schuylkill County woman was jailed over the weekend after police say she was drunk in public, bit a man, and attempted to drive her vehicle while not wearing any pants.

Police in Pottsville say they were called to the 1200 block of W. Norwegian St. shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday night for a physical altercation in progress.

At the scene, police spoke with the victim of the alleged incident. His shirt was ripped and he was bleeding from his left hand, police say.

The alleged victim reportedly told police that Monique Sifuentes, 27, of Pottsville, was drunk and came outside with her car keys. She was only wearing a shirt at the time, no pants, he said, and he was trying to prevent her from driving drunk.

This interaction reportedly led to a physical altercation between the two on the sidewalk, during which Sifuentes allegedly ripped his shirt and bit him on the hand.

While speaking with Sifuentes, police say they could smell alcohol emanating from her and her eyes appeared glassy. Sifuentes’ speech was slurred and she was unsteady on her feet, police add.

Sifuentes was arraigned that morning before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley and charged with a misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary offense for public drunkeness.

Reiley set bail at 10% of $10,000 and remanded Sifuentes to Schuylkill County Prison. Court records show that bail was posted on Monday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Reiley on Feb. 2.
