Police Find “People That Owe You” Listing, Gun During Vehicle Search After Traffic Stop

Auchter facing felony gun charge

A handwritten ledger titled “People That Owe You” was among the evidence police say they seized following a traffic stop that also allegedly yielded an unlicensed firearm and drug paraphernalia.

Police in Schuylkill Haven say the list was discovered inside a vehicle driven by Brock Auchter, 33, of Elysburg, during the execution of a search warrant last month.

Through their investigation, police learned that Auchter had a suspended driver’s license. While speaking with him and a passenger, police noted the passenger appeared “very nervous” and fumbled with her purse.

A records check also indicated Auchter had an active Domestic Relations warrant out of Luzerne County, though authorities there declined to detain him at that time, police say.

When police asked Auchter to step out of the vehicle, police say they observed Narcan, small plastic baggies, and live rifle cartridges in the driver-side door. Auchter denied consent to search the vehicle. Police say they then had the car towed to a secure lot.

During an initial inventory search of the vehicle, police allege they found a large bag containing several smaller empty baggies. While searching the backseat, officers moved a black winter beanie and allegedly found a small revolver inside it. Police also say they found a baggie containing “crystal-like residue” on the floor.

The inventory search was halted, police say, in order to obtain a warrant. A subsequent check revealed Auchter’s concealed weapons permit had expired in July 2024.

Police say they returned to Auchter’s vehicle with a search warrant on Dec. 18. It was during this search that officers allegedly found the burnt tinfoil wrapper and the “People That Owe You” ledger.

On Dec. 30, police filed charges against Auchter at District Court in Orwigsburg. He’s been charged with a felony count of carrying a firearm without a license, a misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia, and summary traffic offenses, including driving on a suspended license.
