New Year’s revelers in Schuylkill County should use caution if they plan on traveling home from festivities overnight tonight.
National Weather Service says intense snow squalls are possible between 1-4 a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 1).
These squalls could last only about 15 minutes but could be intense enough to drop an inch of snow and make travel very hazardous. Winds could gust up to 40 mph during a snow squall and make visibility very low.
If a snow squall develops while you’re on the roads, forecasters suggest slowing down, pulling off the roadway and using extreme caution, allowing plenty of stopping distance in case roads have become icy due to rapid freezing.
