We don’t need a pinpoint forecast to report that 1-2 inches of snow is expected to fall on Schuylkill County starting tonight.
National Weather Service says snow can be expected in the area as early as 7 p.m. Saturday and it likely will last until about 3 a.m. Sunday.
A general accumulation of 1-2 inches is expected across all of Schuylkill County from this fast-moving storm.
Leading up to the snow later tonight will be a pretty nice day overall. And when you see what’s coming behind tonight’s snow, you might want to get out and take advantage of the relatively mild air.
A high of 37 degrees is expected today under a mostly cloudy sky. Wind will be light.
It’s after the snow departs that things get rather uninviting to outdoor activities.
Forecasters are expecting a high temp of just 25 degrees on Sunday here in the coal region, with a low of a frigid 13 degrees.
Making matters worse will be steady winds of up to 10 mph. Gusts to 26 mph are expected in the area, too.
That cold air sticks around for at least a couple more days into the work week.
However, a warming trend does appear in the forecast for later next week. Right now, we could be looking at a high temp of near 50 degrees on Thursday.
