Motorists in Schuylkill County could find travel tricky in some spots through their Thursday morning commute.
Snow, sleet, and rain that fell on Schuylkill County on Wednesday has the potential to refreeze and cause hazardous travel conditions. National Weather Service cautions that these conditions could persist through this morning.
A cold front is crossing the region overnight and temperatures are dipping into the low-to-mid 20s.
Wet and untreated roads could experience refreezing. Sidewalks will likely be slippery in some spots, too.
This potential hazard prompted schools across Schuylkill County to impose 2-hour delays to the start of their class schedules on Thursday.
Cold and Wind
Thursday will mark a return to the unseasonably cold weather we’ve been experiencing much of December in Schuylkill County.
The forecast high temperature on Thursday is just 29 degrees, with a low of 20 degrees.
In addition to the cold air, a strong and steady wind will make it feel much colder today.
Sustained winds are expected out of the west at between 10-15 mph. Gusts could be has high as 40 mph in some spots
