Schuylkill County Man Jailed on Domestic Violence Charges

A Schuylkill County man was jailed this week after police say he assaulted a woman and threw household items at her.

Police in Pottsville were called to a home on Spring Garden St. shortly before 3 p.m. on Dec. 3 for a report of a domestic altercation and a suspect fleeing the scene.

The victim of this alleged incident was interviewed by police. She reportedly said that her boyfriend, David Shaull, 36, became angry when she started receiving text messages from an unknown phone number.

Shaull reportedly believed they were coming from another man and that the victim was guilty of infidelity.

In anger, Shaull then allegedly began throwing items at the victim, including a chair, a stand, a small space heater, and a television.

Those alleged actions then led to physical violence against the victim, she told police.

Shaull then allegedly slapped the victim in the face, punched her in the eye, and kneed her jaw.

Police say the victim displayed injuries consistent with that account of Shaull’s alleged actions.

Shaull was eventually picked up by police and arraigned later that afternoon before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley on charges of simple assault and harassment.

Reiley set bail at 10% of $10,000 and Shaull was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison, where court records show he remains as of Friday afternoon. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
