Police in Pottsville say they’re investigating a crash that happened Friday morning in the city in which a vehicle went down a 100-foot embankment and landed in a parking lot.
The crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. Friday. Police say they were dispatched to the area of Route 61 South and Terry Reiley Way for a reported crash.
Through their investigation, police say a 2012 BMW driven by Kenneth Altshuler, 23, of Pottsville, veered off the southbound side of Route 61 went up an embankment and then dropped approximately 100 feet down that embankment.
Altshuler’s vehicle came to a stop in the Geisinger parking lot along Terry Reiley Way.
Police say prior to the crash, Altshuler cut in front of a vehicle at a high rate of speed, losing control, and then rear-ending another vehicle before going up and over the embankment.
Altshuler was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East for treatment of injuries he suffered in the crash.
The driver of the vehicle he rear-ended at first refused medical treatment at the scene but later did seek medical attention. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
