Schuylkill County Man Jailed on Domestic Assault Charge

Dormer held on $50K cash bail

A Schuylkill County man was jailed Sunday night on a domestic assault charge.

State Police say they were called to a home in Ashland at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. A neighbor to the alleged assault phoned 9-1-1 to say they could hear a woman shouting and crying for help.

Police say they arrived at the scene and made contact with Dennis Dormer, 54, who denied that a domestic disturbance had occurred. He did, however, give consent to police to search his residence.

Once inside, police say they found the victim of the alleged assault in a bedroom, suffering from a significant facial injury. Her right eye was bruised, bleeding, and swollen shut. She was also bleeding from her nose and lips.

Police say they took Dormer into custody on suspicion of domestic assault.

When speaking to the victim, police say she said Dormer began punching her while accusing her of being unfaithful to him.

Dormer was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli on a felony charge of aggravated assault, a misdemeanor count of simple assault, and a summary offense for harassment.

Tarantelli set bail at $50,000 cash and remanded Dormer to Schuylkill County Prison.
