Schuylkill County Man Allegedly Kicked In Door, Physically Assaulted Woman

Jason Demarco released after posting $250 bail

A Schuylkill County man was jailed briefly after he allegedly violated a PFA order, broke into a home, and assaulted a woman.

Tamaqua Police say they were called to a home in Coaldale on the morning of Oct. 25 for a reported domestic disturbance.

At the scene, police say they spoke with a woman who said she had an active PFA order against Jason Demarco, 50, of Coaldale, but despite that, had allowed him to stay in her home because he was cold and had nowhere else to go. Demarco was reportedly allowed to stay the night on the couch and provide his own food.

The following morning, Demarco allegedly became agitated and accused the victim in this incident of seeing other people. That agitation escalated and Demarco was asked to leave. He did so when the victim phoned 9-1-1.

However, a short time later, Demarco allegedly kicked in a rear door to the home and said, “I’m going to get my money’s worth.”

Demarco allegedly physically assaulted the victim. The victim told police she was able to break free and Demarco once again fled the scene.

Police say the victim’s home showed signs of a struggle and that she had visible injuries, including a bloody nose and lacerated lip.

Demarco was arrested on Friday and charged with felony counts of criminal trespass and burglary along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and criminal mischief. He’s also been charged with a summary count of harassment.

Demarco was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer, who set bail at 10% of $2,500, which he posted the same day.
