A Schuylkill County woman is one of the latest to be duped by a TikTok puppy scam.
According to State Police, a 65-year-old woman is out $150 because she reportedly attempted to purchase a puppy on TikTok.
She told police on Oct. 8 that the seller requested an Amazon gift card as a down payment, which the woman obliged and submitted, hoping she’d get a puppy.
The puppy never arrived.
In a TikTok puppy scam, a fraudulent seller will often share content featuring a puppy which can be purchased. Like many of these types of scams, the seller will ask for payment with a gift card or non-traditional form of payment of some kind.
Bogus sellers will often request more funds from their marks, sometimes by saying they want money for shipping the puppy.

An investigation into this alleged incident is ongoing, police say.
