Schuylkill County Woman Allegedly Bites Nurse, Faces Felony Charge

Fowler due in court on Monday

A Schuylkill County woman is facing an aggravated assault charge after she allegedly bit a nurse at a local hospital.

Police in Pottsville say they were called to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East shortly after 1 a.m. on Oct. 18 for a reported assault.

A nurse at LVHN reportedly told police that a patient at the hospital, 28-year-old Jamie Fowler, of Schuylkill Haven, had become combative and while attempting to restrain her, bit her on the arm.

Police say the nurse had a visible bite mark on her forearm. The nurse received treatment at the hospital for the bite injury and was released.

Fowler has been charged with aggravated assault, a felony, simple assault, a misdemeanor, and harassment, a summary offense. She was released on $10,000 unsecured bail and is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday in Pottsville.
