Police say they arrested a Schuylkill County man last month while he was dumpster diving with his girlfriend because he was wanted on two outstanding warrants.
Now, he’s facing new charges for allegedly giving police a false ID.
State Police say they were dispatched to the Boyer’s Food Market in Ashland shortly before 1 a.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle in the store’s parking lot.
Police arrived at the scene and found a person they later identified as Joshua Mooney, 38, of Ashland, standing next to his vehicle. Mooney said his girlfriend was behind the store and that they were looking through dumpsters for discarded items.
When police asked Mooney for some identification, he allegedly gave the name Joshua Stevens. Police did a records check and say no such person existed.
Mooney was taken into custody and when he found out he’d be going to the State Police barracks in Frackville, it was then that he reportedly identified himself properly and said he had warrants for his arrest.
Police say Mooney was wanted on a warrant out of Saint Clair for allegedly making terroristic threats. He was also wanted on a Schuylkill County bench warrant for failing to appear for court.
For this latest incident, police have charged Mooney with misdemeanor counts of providing false identification, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
