A Schuylkill County man and woman are facing drug charges following a raid on a home in Minersville Thursday. During that raid, police say they also seized items that are part of a pending death investigation.
Police say they performed a search on a home at 439 Carbon St. in Minersville.
Inside a bedroom identified as that of Alex King, 58, police say they found, among many items, a medium-sized baggie containing about 56 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a gallon Ziploc-style bag containing new resealable baggies, a joint wrapper containing a plastic syringe that contained a brown liquid, a digital scale, two empty baggies containing residue, and three smoking devices.
In King’s kitchen, police say they found a blue plastic plate with a line of meth prepared, an iPhone registered to another owner, and a gold mirror with meth residue.
Inside the bedroom of Betty Butler, 54, police say they found a glass container containing marijuana, a wooden box with drug paraphernalia inside, and a purple container that held glassine baggies, a digital scale, and a funnel that’s commonly used to fill said baggies.
Police say they also seized and inventoried other items inside the residence that are related to a separate, pending death investigation.
This is King’s second arrest in the last five months on suspicion of methamphetamine trafficking. He was charged in July following a raid on his home in May. King was released on $50,000 unsecured bail following that arrest. That case is pending in Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.
After today’s raid, King was arraigned on charges of possession with intent to deliver, a felony, along with misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
King was taken before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko, who set bail at $75,000 cash. He was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison.
Butler is facing misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
