A Schuylkill County man was arraigned and sent to jail Monday afternoon on charges that he threw a full can of Twisted Tea at a woman during an argument.
State Police say they were dispatched to Acre St. in Port Carbon shortly before 4:30 p.m. Sunday for an active domestic dispute.
At the scene, police say they spoke with the victim of the incident who said she and David Collins Jr., 33, of Port Carbon, had gotten into a verbal altercation. At one point during the argument, the victim admitted to police that she pushed Collins.
Collins responded by pushing her back and then struck her with a closed fist, she said. He then threw a full can of Twisted Tea at her, hitting her in the head.
A witness reportedly told police that he saw the incident unfolding and his account of the events mostly mirrored that of the victim’s. He did say that when Collins struck the victim with his fist, he grazed her.
Collins was apprehended on Monday and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko and charged with simple assault and harassment. Plachko set bail at 10% of $10,000, which wasn’t posted and Collins was sent to Schuylkill County Prison.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 28.
