A Schuylkill County man is facing several charges after he allegedly called his neighbor a racial slur and threatened her bodily harm.
The man says he did use that word to describe his neighbor but denies making the threat of physical violence.
State Police say they were dispatched to a home on Pine Drive in Hubley Township on Sept. 23 for a report of a dispute between neighbors.
The victim reportedly told police that she was arguing with her neighbor, Nicholas Miller, 43, about his friends going onto her property. In that argument, Miller allegedly called his neighbor a “n****r”.
When the victim walked away, Miller allegedly said, “hang the n****r” and directed it at his neighbor. The victim told police that she did not hear Miller say that directly but that her son, who was near a bedroom window, heard it and told her he’d said it.
The victim told police that knowing Miller had made that alleged threat put her in fear for her safety.
Police say they spoke with Miller who denied making the threat but did admit to calling the victim a “n****r”. He said he had a First Amendment right to say anything he pleases on his property.
Miller is facing misdemeanor charges of making terroristic threats and ethnic intimidation, along with a summary count of harassment. He’ll have to answer to those charges at District Court in Tremont in February 2026.
