At their Oct. 8 meeting, Schuylkill County Commissioners approved a series of actions across several county departments.
Here is a breakdown of those actions:
The 911 Communications department received approval to enter into an agreement with Green’s Communications of Pottsville for microwave and fiber connectivity between the county’s 911 Center and its microwave ring.
The new system replaces existing Verizon T1 circuits, producing an estimated annual savings of $21,144. The agreement carries a one-time nonrecurring cost of $30,000 and a monthly cost of $5,000.
The term runs from Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2035, with no rate increases during the period.
The Adult Probation Office was authorized to purchase a police interceptor vehicle from Miracle Ford of Tamaqua at a cost of $47,837.25 through the COSTARS state cooperative purchasing program.
The vehicle will be paid for using offender supervision fee funds through the county’s Capital Automotive Equipment account.
Under the Domestic Relations Office, the board approved legal service agreements for Solicitor James Bohorad, Title IV-D Attorney Gino O. DiNicola, and Support Masters Michael Fiorillo, Debra Smith, and Kent Watkins.
These agreements take effect Oct. 1, 2025, and continue through Sept. 30, 2030. There were no rate changes from the previous contracts.
The agreements were already approved and signed by President Judge Jacqueline Russell and the attorneys involved.
In the Children & Youth department, commissioners approved an addendum to the existing agreement with KidsPeace National Centers, Inc. of Schnecksville.
The amendment adds a child-specific per diem rate of $53.77 for a college student placement.
In County Administration, the commissioners approved a resolution to apply for and accept funds through the Local Share Account.
They also authorized the Schuylkill County Industrial Development Authority (SCIDA) to submit a Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant application on behalf of the county for funding toward the proposed fire training and emergency management facility.
Additionally, commissioners approved the submission of an application for $350,000 in funding through the Appalachian Regional Commission, via NEPA, to cover equipment costs associated with that same facility.
