Freeze Warning Issued for Schuylkill County

Temps could drop below 30 tonight

The Freeze Warning goes into effect at 11 p.m. Thursday and extends until 9 a.m. Friday.

Sub-freezing temperatures from the upper 20s to lower 30s are expected. Valley locations and sheltered areas are expected to experience the coldest conditions overnight.

Frost and freezing conditions could kill crops. Several hours of freezing temperatures could bring an end to the growing season, NWS advises.

Sensitive vegetation should be protected from the expected cold temperatures overnight, forecasters say.

According to the 7-day forecast for Pottsville, a low temperature of 34 degrees is expected with widespread frost developing after 2 a.m. Friday.
