Former Tamaqua Cop Pleads Guilty to Federal Charges, Judge Orders Pre-Sentence Investigation

Cordes produced, held CP, made animal crush videos

Former Tamaqua police officer Christopher Cordes entered guilty pleas on five charges Wednesday at US Court in Wilkes-Barre.

Court records show Cordes entered pleas on charges of:

  • Coercion and Enticement of a Minor to Engage in Illegal Sexual Activity
  • Attempted Receipt of Child Pornography
  • Possession of Child Pornography
  • Creation of Animal Crush Video
  • Production of Child Pornography

U.S. District Court Judge Joseph Saporito accepted the guilty plea on Wednesday and ordered to the U.S. Probation Office to conduct a pre-sentence investigation to determine Cordes’ punishment.

He faces up to life in prison for these crimes.

The pre-sentence investigation was ordered to be completed and disclosed to the court no later than Nov. 20.

In May 2024, Cordes was charged with sex crimes involving a minor victim as well as dogs by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. Cordes created videos of himself having sex with dogs, original charging documents against him revealed.

Further, he used Snapchat to meet minor girls and also used that account to express his sexual interest in children.

When charges were initially filed against Cordes, he was suspended from his job with Tamaqua Police Dept. He was fired from his job in June 2024.

Cordes was indicted by a federal grand jury in October. He’s being held in a federal prison pending sentencing.
