Daquan Miller serving life sentence for killing cellmate in Philadelphia.

An inmate serving a life sentence at a state prison in Schuylkill County is facing a felony charge after he allegedly threw his own urine on a corrections officer.

Court documents show that on May 9, a corrections officer was assisting a nurse inside the prison distribute medications to inmates. Medications are delivered to inmates through the food aperture on their cell door.

As the corrections officer opened the aperture at Daquan Miller’s cell at SCI-Mahanoy, Miller allegedly stuck his hand through the opening holding a milk carton.

Miller, 26, then allegedly threw the liquid inside the milk carton at the corrections officer, splashing it onto his face, eyes, pants, and shoes. He then said to the officer, “You’re a bit**; this is what you get.”

After throwing the liquid, Miller allegedly acknowledged that the liquid was urine. The officer believed that on account of it being warm and smelling like urine, an affidavit reads.

The officer’s jacket was sent to a State Police regional lab in Harrisburg for testing. Results reportedly indicate that the liquid on the jacket was urine.

Miller has been charged with a felony count of aggravated harassment by an inmate.

Daquan Miller’s Background

Miller was convicted in May of first-degree murder in the 2024 slaying of his cellmate at a jail in Philadelphia. He was immediately sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, immediately following the death of 59-year-old Mike Osborne, questions were raised as to why Miller was allowed in a general population area of a Philadelphia lock-up.

Miller was known to have violent tendencies toward fellow inmates. He assaulted two inmates at a prison in Delaware County using his handcuffs and fists and then was moved to a Philadelphia jail as part of an inmate exchange.

Despite being flagged as a risk of being a violent offender behind bars, he was released into a general population area. The next morning, Miller’s cellmate, Osborne, was found dead in their cell.
