A Schuylkill County man is facing drug charges after police say they used Facetime to set up a controlled buy of methamphetamine and fentanyl with him.
Court documents show that State Police and the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force established contact with Christopher Mercuri, 40, of Schuylkill Haven, on April 9, through an undercover agent who connected with him on Facetime.
The parties agreed to meet at a location within Schuylkill County.
An undercover agent got into Mercuri’s vehicle and exchanged marked money for a quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Field tests on those suspected drugs returned positive results for each, police say. The drugs were sent to the State Police Regional Laboratory in Harrisburg on April 10. On May 19, the results of those lab tests showed that Mercuri had sold authorities 83.88 grams of methamphetamine and 9.37 grams of fentanyl.
Mercuri was arraigned Tuesday morning before Magisterial District Judge AJ Serina and charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver and a felony count of criminal use of a communication facility. He’s also been charged with two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Serina set bail at $25,000 cash and Mercuri was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison.
